And in my vastly underrated opinion, I think poutine beats the crap out of french fries any day. <br /><br />In Chicago last week, I was lucky enough to have dinner with a renowned chef, (and of COURSE, I will be blogging about that), a friend of my sister's. He took us to this fabulous restaurant and the owner and chef of the restaurant showered us with all his favorite dishes. One of the things he brought out to us was a bowl of fries with an egg sunny side up on top of it. It was a-maz-ing. My sister asked her friend chef what the fries were called and he said, "Fries with an egg on top of them." Very basic, something I'd never put together, but delicious. My vote, besides poutine, for best fries.
