I began this blog in fall 2009, after seeing Julie and Julia, a movie I loved, in which Julia Childs inspired others to cook and had, much to the disappointment of my husband, absolutely no such effect on me. Julie Powell inspired me to blog. Until then I wasn't really sure what a blog was. I have always been a wannabe writer, and always had tons of opinions, so this was a natural fit.
I live in Edmonton, Canada, work in retail, am a runner, reader, movie and TV fan, and generalist pop culture lover. My dog Alfred is a 5-year old Havanese and I can objectively say is without a doubt the cutest dog in the world. And in May 2010 I married a great guy, Kevin, a marriage which according to most US politicians and organized religions threatens the families of the world and the very future of the planet. They're wrong, by the way.
alfred lives here is random thoughts, big gay opinions, sarcastic observations, shared stories, political musings, quote collecting, and lots of love for Alfred the adorable Havanese. I write about TV, movies and books a lot. Look for random adorable pics of Alfie and my step dog Quinn, and yes once a year that will involve Halloween costumes. You've been warned. Oh and the occasionally left-leaning political rant...
