A doggie woggie by any other name...

Last night I was taking Alfred for his pre-bedtime walk around 10 PM. Lovely winter evening, other people out on the street, all is well with the world, and Alfie gets all excited as we meet a young woman with her cute little yappy shitzu-esque furball dog.

And then she refers to the pooch as her doggie woggie. And then her baby waby. And then, yes, her honey bunny. Ick. Puke. Barf.

Now I hate to judge fellow dog lovers, as Alfie is such a light in my life, but really, people? And this from someone who is known to look randomly at my dog and pronounce him to be the cutest dog in the world to anyone in hearing distance.

So what do I call Alfred besides Alfie? Alfredo. Cutest dog ever. Little dude. Havanese. The Cuban. Furball. The little pee machine (thankfully those days have passed, except when he sees a suitcase)...

I have never called him my baby waby. Please gawd I have never called him my baby waby...

The baby names, etc., always annoys me too. I do like your nicknames. Those are clever.

Your dog really is one of the cutest dogs ever!

But yes...please do not start with the baby names. There is nothing more annoying than a grown adult making themselves sound like a child!

Well said Brahm... it is totally barf-inducing.

Mind you, I also recoil when people refer to themselves as their dog's 'mommy' or 'daddy'.

Purlease say you don't do that (I don't think you do, but I am just checkin'!) I mean, they didn't give birth to a dog did they?

P.S. I am loving Alred's trendy orange coat!!

Yes, please Judge and Hate the baby talkers to their animals. I for one get irritated with that. I do love my dog, but don't do the baby talk.

Baby talkers should be shot on sight. Okay that may be a bit harsh, lets go with knee capped. I like Alfredo but maybe say it with a 'Godfather' accent. We are really creative in our house and call our male Great Dane 'Big Dog', hours of thought went into that one :)

Wow, "Big Dog" is soooo creative! I do like "PITA" a lot, that is totally fun.

And yes I do sometimes refer to myself as Alfie's Dad, because he is my adopted, uh, child? I like 'pet parent'.

No baby talk. Nope. Don't even like it for babies, actually...

Alfred's a cute little fella!

When our family dog was still alive, I used to say to him in an elevated voice, "How's my sweet peach, my honeydew, my baby bunch?" all in one quick sentence.

Sometimes you just get caught up, what can I say! LOL
