Did Queen Latifah just come out of the closet?

Did Oscar-nominated, Grammy winning, Weight Watchers spokeperson Queen Latifah just come out of the closet? Yes. No. Maybe. Sort of. A little. No. Yes and then she went back in. No of course not. WTF...?

The gay rumours have been swirling around Latifah forever.

What does she say in the current issue of Upscale magazine? "I don't have to explain anything. I don't have to confirm anything... I'm the one living it. You go ahead and speculate. I'll just live it."

So assuming by this she is gay, gay, gay, does it matter? Her career isnt built on romantic leading roles, would it hurt her to come out? Would it help the cause of equality, or would it damage her career, or both?

Hmmm, I wonder what a certain 40-something silver haired journalist would say about all this. And why have I never even heard of Upscale magazine. How the hell many magazines are there out there? How do they survive?

Yeh, it makes you wonder doesn't it? Maybe there are other factors that people don't know about... like her family may not accept it.... ummmmmm it's a toughy.

I think she's keeping it as private as she is able. Whether or not she is or she isn't, she is established and secure enough, that she doesn't give a damn who thinks what.Go Queen L. Go!!!

I don't think she came out.
You come out by saying, "I'm gay."
You don't come out by spouting insignificant nothings about knowing who you are...and not confirming....or explaining.
She isn't out.
She's a closeted homophobe. And I think she could do wonders for lots of African-American girls who are gay and afraid to come out. think of the role model she could be if she just said IT instead of dancing around it.
IMO.

it doesn't affect my opinion about her as a talent whether she is or isn't gay. but if she is, i would applaud her for coming out because when any kind of celebrity (actor, sports figure, politiician) comes out, i feel like it helps other gays feel more comfortable in their own skin. and it leads to more acceptance and less ugly intolerance.

She seems to be saying almost "too much." I don't know. Something bugs me about her comments. When people respond in that way, it just seems they are protesting too much. It's that age old struggle.

If she is , she will let us know in her own time. Like when we came out, it tooks us some time as well. Look how long it took Ricky Martin. We all knew, nut took him some time to let us in.

I'd hop the fence for Queen L. I love her. Dynamic, talented and completely right. She doesnt have to explain. Anything to anybody. What she does on her time off is no one business other than hers. Being straight, gay or bi doesnt change who she is.

Sigh. Poor Anderson Cooper taking another shot from you about being in the closet.

I thought she'd been out for a long time. The MASH fellow, too. I can't keep up with who's in and who's out anymore and just hope I live to see the day when nobody freakin' gives a damn anymore. Meanwhile, we have a burger chain here in California called In'n'Out. I wonder if they're looking for a spokesperson... Queen?

I didn't know either Queen Latifa or the guy from M*A*S*H was ever in the closet, of course I never even thought about it. When/if Brett Michaels from Poisen comes out of the closet, then I will be surprised.

Either way, it doesn't change much in my life. Unless of course I meet her someday and I marry her because how cool would that be? Okay, random. But she's right, she doesn't have to explain anything to anyone and I wish more people could think that way, not only about themselves, but others.

I agree she doesn't owe anything to anyone.

That being said, she has the ear of so many communities, if she is gay, isn't this a great opportunity to step forward and get people thinking.

I Loooove her. And damnit! The woman's right, it's her life, she'll live it any which way she pleases and there's no need to answer to answer anyone.
And even though it would be cool, it's not on her shoulders to get the community thinking, people should think for their own darn selves.
