Drew Barrymore and other undiscovered treats...

As 2010 winds down, here's some great stuff that went under the radar and might not make 'best of' lists, but were among my faves this year.

Flicks
Two come to mind here --- Drew Barrymore's romantic comedy Going the Distance was smart and sweet and grown-up. Yet it had no aliens or zombies, and bombed. And George Clooney's The American had me holding my breath waiting to see what would happen next.

Books
Go Go Belinda Carlisle's sassy smart autobiography Lips Unsealed was a wise and dishy tale of rock star excess and growing up. I loved every page of it.

TV
The Big Bang Theory makes me laugh every time.

Music
Reba's All the Women I Am is polished perfection country pop, from the barn burner kiss-off song Turn On the Radio to her mellow cover of Beyonce's If I Were A Boy. Loved her in concert this year, and have this CD playing endlessly in my car.

Well of course that Drew Barrymore movie bombed. If she'd fallen in love with a zombie instead of Justin Long (or even the zombie version of Justin Long), there's be serious Oscar buzz happening right now.

Even though I don't laugh out loud too often when I watch Big Bang... I can't help but like it. Sweet and charming show.

On an unrelated note: I could've sworn I was following you through my Google Reader, but your blog disappeared off the list. I have no idea why. Either you or Google is trying to send me a message.

I haven't seen or heard of most of these (but they will be added to my "must look at" list - why, yes, I DO live under a rock!) but I do love the Big Bang Theory.

Same as Gigi - I haven't seen or heard of most of these. I will have to check them out!

@ Gigi and @ Kimber -- I know the Drew Barrymore one is just out on dvd, rent it! Then let me know what you think.

@ Didactic, no message intended, would love if you follow. And on an unrelated note, this is hard to type with beagle sprawled on keyboard.

@ Debra - woo hoo Big Bang Theory!

Nah, I've never heard of that Drew Barrymore film either. I need something to do tonight, so I might check it out. Thanks for the recommendation me dear!

A darn shame that this movie bombed and horror and violent movies make it to the top. Just have to say that MacGuy, Justin Long, made a huge contribution to the movie's sweetness.

Drew carved a special place in my heart after Boys on The Side. And of course ET.. I'll watch anything she's in...aliens or not (-:

I adore Drew Barrymore. There's something about her sweet pretty face that just tugs at my heart. I haven't seen this but I'll look for it!

When did you see The American? I do not remember seeing it. Where was I? How come there isn't a picture of the world's cutest canine, Quinn the beagle, on the updated blog? This blog would be so much better if there was a picture of Quinn, the world's cutest canine, on here.

While I agree Quinn is adorable, he is not the world's cutest, that would be the blog-inspiring Alfredo. You are right, he hasn't been on here for awhile, I will post Quinn pics....
