I saw this one on YouTube and Facebook this morning and was initially shocked by it. I thought it was too strong and too direct. Then I watched it again tonight and decided it was the right tone for the situation being addressed. Rock on, Sulu, rock on!

I was not expecting him to come out with "douchebag" so I will admit to a surprised giggle. What the heck is going on in the world... A school board member? Douchebag isn't strong enough. He's supposed to be helping kids.
as far as i'm concerned, i'm quite fine with such an approach, as this is the way i would do it myself. i am tired of the apologetic attitude of our LGBT representatives... but i do realize it's a good thing i have no personal political ambitions as i would probably hurt the cause more than helping it. but i do say "bravo!!" to TAKEI for doing it. but the slogan does inspire me to write something, on a certain blog...soon!!
thanx 4 sharing!!

Brilliant video, and I agree with Ticklebear - why use an apologetic approach? Teenagers are killing themselves - it is a truly awful situation that needs tackling head on. Go Takei!
When I first saw this, I thought way to go Takei!!
I am glad to see that others are standing up for GLBT rights. We need people like him and others to do the same thing.
I am happy that Anderson Cooper did a segment on the school board member in the first place.
I am also glad to hear that the school board member resigned.
Only George could make "douchebag" come across as simultaneously scathing, sardonic, and freaking hilarious.
Amen! Rock on, Sulu, rock on!!
I love this video. I just read the article about this which is wishing for that guy's resignation, now he already resigned. I certainly believe the message of this video. Gays have rights and they have to be respected.

Yeah, I thought was hilarious too --- such a classy guy being vulgar, it works!
