"Boy, we haven't grown at all, have we? We're still children in a schoolyard. Honestly, no offense Dave, but for God sakes, have you ever seen a gay man? Are there gay people in Indiana?"
Jim Carrey to David Letterman when asked whether he worries about playing a gay role in I Love You Phillip Morris, November 18, 2010.
I haven't seen this movie yet, which is the true story of a gay con man, as its distribution is somewhat scattered and it hasn't gotten here yet. Looks like a must-see!

SAW it a few weeks ago!! AWESOME Jim and Ewan do a GREAT job!! Loved it!! Go see it when it arrive near you!
Well, not all gay men love Jim Carrey. Some of us would rather eat our own entrails than to sit through 3 minutes of watching him in anything...BUT, I think that's an awesome response and my dislike for him as an actor doesn't diminish my appreciation for that answer.
Though not a gay man, I'm with Breenlantern on this one. Entrails do sound appetizing in comparison. But yay him for the comment! Maybe I'll see it? Maybe... Okay, probably not.
It is time for David Letterman to retire. Really, it was time for him to retire decades ago.
Even straight guys love him too! I think he's brilliant.
I love this quote, and want to see the movie. And while Jim Carrey makes some crappy Ace Ventura type movies, I find his more dramatic and grown up stuff interesting. And as for Letterman, I was a fan but the grouchy old man schtick has gotten voting. All hail Jon Stewart,
My hubby and I flipped the trailer on the other day and when it finished we looked at each other and had to go have a shower. I know there's a story in there somewhere past JC's mincing but we couldn't see it.
LOl! This post should have been entitled 'why everyone loves Jim Carrey!".
I can't wait to read your review on the film me dear!
I've seen the movie and thought it was hysterical -- and I'm not even a Carrey fan, but the writing is really sharp and all the actors shine. I think you'll enjoy it.
I'm not a big Jim Carey fan, but I'm definitely a fan of this quote!
@ Jayne - so good to hear, I am waiting for it to come here to the far north!
@ Mads --- agreed, think is awesome quote, with humour it says the truth in an honest and unscripted firm way.
