Hey Howard Stern -- I gotta admit, I don't listen to your radio show, but after reading this, dude, I am a fan now!
"My feeling about gay people is that we have a responsibility not only to make gay marriage acceptable and to make gays feel accepted as much as heterosexuals…
Gay people are downtrodden. They are beaten. They are abused for their sexuality, and it goes across race. In the white community and the black community gay people are the bastards of the world.
And in order for things to change, because any one of you could have gay children, or gay relatives, or gay friends…we have a responsibility to make this acceptable, to get all this bullshit so that some gay kid going to high school doesn't get the shit beaten out of him just because he's gay…I'm as heterosexual as they come. What is this hang-up about gay marriage? Who cares? Get on with your life!"

amen!
Just goes to show - even the people you least expect can have decent, coherent thoughts and hearts.
@ Patty --- well put as always!
@ Gigi --- well said, someone rough and tough like this with words, I am impressed.
Thanks for stopping by!
Wow.. strong words, let's hope people listen.
I used to listen to him. He's interesting. I have mixed feelings about the quote. I don't particularly like to consider myself or those of my peers are "downtrodden or beaten" but I have been lucky with family/friends and acceptance.
I second the Punker's Amen. It's hard enough to find someone in this world whom you love and want to spend the rest of your life with, without someone else telling you who that person should be.
Howard Stern rocks! I didn't know that he was straight, but his opinion on gay relationships is spot on. NO ONE should have to face being beaten up because they are gay. I still harbour a thought that the beaters are gays in denial.... is that right?
Howard has a lot more than we think behind his big, brazen bravado attitude. Way to go Howard!
<3 you, Howard - not so much.
One of these days everyone will hopefully realize that people are people...nothing more & nothing less. Judging other's isn't going to change anything so people may as well just learn to accept differences and as Howard so eloquently said...'get on with your life'!
I'm got a little award waiting for you over at my blog if you would like it...just stop on by and say hi when you get a chance :o)
Howard hides his decency to be more marketable to the everyman. He is in every way, a mensch.
I'm glad you heard the "him."
Great day to you!
Not a big fan of the Howard...but he does have some common sense...and a large audience...hope it sinks in :)
@ Sid --- I like the word mensch for him, as evidenced by this quote. A tough talker, with his heart in the right place.
Thanks for all the comments guys!
I've never liked Howard Stern, but this makes him somewhat awesome.
