Mae West was smarter than her time. I love allot of her movies.Ray
A woman far ahead of her time in many ways!
Very well said! Such a smart and talented lady!
Boy, was she ahead of her time! But that was what Debra just said! (read the comments first Jim).
Wow. Was she ever ahead of her time. Amazingly perceptive and compassionate.
But then again, with the teabaggers in charge, they might be thinking, "Good times!"We'd better watch out.
Interesting thoghts from an interesting woman. Loving the feathers by the way. xx
Mae West is a dude! And she has the biggest arsenal of gay quotes out of anyone I have ever known.... go Mae, go!
I'm glad to see her. I knew there was more to her than what might be in some guy's pocket.
She was one really smart blond! Well she looked like a blond anyway...
What an amazing quote! And from her time... WOW!
She was quite the lady... and so ahead of her time. But I have to second the caution of wcs. Teabaggers are dangerous and we have to stop them at every opportunity. Or we'll have a sad world indeed.
I loved this quote when I found it, so striking and strong a statement from someone whose opinion would not have been in the majority at the time. And maybe not now.Gotta love a brave woman!
Wow. That is quite a statment. Kind of curious how that one went over. Love it though.
That is well said! This post is tragically timely. I don't know if you heard about a terrible incident at Rutgers University where a gay student was videotaped with another man without his knowledge by his roommate and it was broadcast online. The poor kid killed himself.I was so saddened by the story and absolutely outraged by the heinous comments that followed it on Yahoo where i read it. Running in the liberal circles that I do, i had no idea that there was still so much intolerance and outright hatred toward gays out there. I feel like our country and society has actually gone backwards in its progress on this.Just had to share.
Agreed, Saucy B, and well put. This post is brave and timely for now, I wonder what the reaction was back when she first said it.And yes I did hear about the Rutgers thing, and the bullying incidents in the news as well. Sad and shocking.Being an out gay man, comfortable in my 'out' life, so much of the hatred is foreign to me, certainly the violence is, though many of us including me have had family and friends walk away from our lives due to homophobia. Is always shocking. The Rutgers incident was beyond that. Beyond shocking. I too am following it in disbelief!
All I can say is I'm so glad I was born in SF where gay is the greatest!
Comments are like chew toys and favourite treats. Alfie says thanks!
